Softball Recap: La Center Sets Scoring Season-High Against Kalama

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Center). They put the hurt on the Kalama Chinooks with a sharp 23-10 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

Lauren Baker was a standout: she fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-6. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Sadie Schmidt was another key player, going 4-for-6 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: La Center kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 28 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

La Center's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Kalama, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season.

La Center will head out to square off against Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Kalama, they will take on Columbia at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
