Baseball Recap: Luxemburg-Casco Has No Trouble Against St. Mary Catholic

Luxemburg-Casco barely beat St. Mary Catholic the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans' pitchers stepped up to hand the Zephyrs a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The matchup marked the Spartans' most dominant victory of the season.

Noah Chervenka tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Reagan Doell was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run. Gage Delcore also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Luxemburg-Casco kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Luxemburg-Casco is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for St. Mary Catholic, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6.

Looking ahead, Luxemburg-Casco is taking a road trip to face off against Freedom at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Mary Catholic, they will host Manitowoc Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Zephyrs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
