The Heritage Patriots will head out on the road to take on the Adams Central Flying Jets at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Heritage is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Heritage is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Homestead on Wednesday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The defeat continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost four in a row.

Danica Fuller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Heritage saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucy Buuck, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Adams Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Bluffton.

Melina Peralez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Natalie Parr also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Adams Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Heritage's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Patriots have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Adams Central, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Heritage continue to outrun the ball?

Heritage skirted past Adams Central 5-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
