Basketball Game Preview: Meyer Ravens vs. Hearne Eagles

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Meyer Ravens challenge Hearne Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meyer is coming into the game hot, having won their last 19 games.

Meyer is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Ropes by a score of 58-51.

Meanwhile, Hearne waltzed into their match on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 58-48 win over the Bulldogs.

Meyer better focus on containing Dereion Mitchell and Zayden Mercer as the pair were huge in Hearne's win. Mitchell shot 64% from the field to rack up 20 points and eight boards, while Mercer posted seven points in addition to 12 rebounds and seven assists. That's the most boards Mercer has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kellen Bowser, who earned seven points along with 11 rebounds and five assists.

Hearne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Hearne pushed their record up to 29-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points over those games. As for Meyer, their win bumped their record up to 36-3.
