Basketball Recap: North Fort Myers Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact North Fort Myers can now relate to. They were dealt a 59-14 defeat at the hands of the Clearwater Tornadoes on Thursday. The Red Knights have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Amrey Stockeland was North Fort Myers' leading scorer, having posted five points. Bianca Iten held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Among those leading the charge was Taina Sturdivant, who posted 21 points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Flournoy, who had 14 points.

North Fort Myers' defeat dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Clearwater, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

North Fort Myers does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Clearwater, they will face off against East Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with East Bay sitting on seven straight wins and Clearwater on three.
