Softball Recap: Central City Value Wins Going Away Against Annenberg

Central City Value won the last time they faced Annenberg and things went their way on Thursday too. The Jaguars blew past the Panthers 18-3. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.

Mercedes Ponce was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Ponce was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Central City Value got a massive performance out of Emily Fernandez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Fernandez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Esther De Leon also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Central City Value always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .730. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Central City Value's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-3. As for Annenberg, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Central City Value has already played their next game, a 32-9 win against Downtown Magnets on the 25th. As for Annenberg, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-0 loss against Animo Bunche on the 28th.
