Baseball Game Preview: Riverton Hawks vs. Jacksonville Crimsons

The Riverton Hawks will take on the Jacksonville Crimsons at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Riverton has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 18.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Riverton's offense. They came up short against Maroa-Forsyth on Tuesday, falling 10-0.

Riverton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braden Eiskant, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Jacksonville hadn't done well against Sacred Heart-Griffin recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Crimsons walked away with a 7-2 win over the Cyclones. The game was the first time the Crimsons have beaten the Cyclones on their field since April 26, 2021.

Cy Kershaw spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Anderson Decker was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Jacksonville's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-12. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Riverton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.
