After a string of three wins, Essex Tech's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Pentucket Regional by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Pentucket Regional this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

Essex Tech took Pentucket Regional into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-17, 14-25, 26-28, 16-14.

Lia Tejeda paced Essex Tech's offense, picking up 14 kills. Tejeda got some help from Ava Newbury and her 26 assists. Shelby Addario and Chloe McGillivray kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Essex Tech's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Pentucket Regional, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-8.

Essex Tech has already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Medford on the 21st. As for Pentucket Regional, they will head out to square off against North Andover at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
