Basketball Recap: Monument Valley Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After flying high against Rockwell two weeks ago, Monument Valley came back down to earth. The Monument Valley Cougars took an 80-63 bruising from the Valley Buffalos on Friday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buffalos apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Monument Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malaya Blackmountain, who posted 17 points. The dominant performance gave Blackmountain a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Kaylisa Tome, who put up 18 points.

Monument Valley's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-6. As for Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-5.

Monument Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-50 defeat against Whitehorse on the 8th. Valley has also already played their next contest, a 55-19 victory against Monticello on the 4th.
