Baseball Recap: Metamora Wins Going Away Against Streator

Metamora won the last time they faced Streator and things went their way on Friday too. The Redbirds were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Bulldogs.

Brant Adams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Metamora got a big performance out of Cole Smith, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Smith has posted since back in April. Drew Lueddecke also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Metamora has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Streator, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-16.

Metamora and Streator could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Redbirds will challenge East Peoria at 7:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (224 vs. 40). Meanwhile, Streator (ranked 318th) will meet Wilmington (ranked 77th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
