Football Game Preview: Eastern Comets vs. Eastbrook Panthers

Eastern is 0-4 against Eastbrook since October of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Comets will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Eastern comes in on seven and Eastbrook on 11.

Eastern is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 41-40 win over Tipton.

Eastern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gibson Eagle, who threw for 302 yards and three TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes. That's the most passing yards Eagle has posted since back in October of 2024. Kaleb Hurt also helped with three touchdowns in total.

Meanwhile, Eastbrook's offense rose to the challenge against a Zebras defense that boasted an average of only 7.55 points allowed on Friday. The Panthers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Rochester 42-14. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Panthers had established a 21-point advantage.

Eastbrook's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Eastern, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.

Eastern took a serious blow against Eastbrook in their previous meeting back in October of 2021, falling 56-14. Thankfully for the Comets, Gage Engle (who rushed for 164 yards and three scores while picking up 8.6 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
