Basketball Recap: Lanier Christian Academy's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Eight + How To Watch

Lanier Christian Academy extended their winning streak to eight on Thursday, bumping them up to 10-5. They put the hurt on the Johnson Ferry Christian Academy Saints with a sharp 83-62 win. The Lightning have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Mekhi Barber produced another solid effort shooting 65% from the field on his way to 36 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. His big performance that evening made it 16 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Xavier Barber, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds.

Lanier Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February.

As for Johnson Ferry Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5. They haven't had much luck with Lanier Christian Academy recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Several Saints players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trent Witte, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards. Witte has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. David Cannon was another key player, going 8-for-19 to rack up 18 points.

Lanier Christian Academy and Johnson Ferry Christian Academy will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Lightning see the court they'll take on Hampton at 4:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Johnson Ferry Christian Academy, their break will end when they face Harvester Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2026.
