Baseball Game Preview: Fort Fairfield Tigers vs. Katahdin Cougars

The Fort Fairfield Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Katahdin Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated after seven games, but that won't be the case come Friday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Fort Fairfield faced off against Central Aroostook on Wednesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Panthers. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Katahdin narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Wisdom 2-1.

Conor Schmidt was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Katahdin pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Fort Fairfield, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.

Fort Fairfield came up short against Katahdin in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 9-4. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
