Recap: Cisne Runnin' Lions vs. Wayne City Indians
The Cisne Runnin' Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 63-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wayne City. Cisne was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wayne City apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Wayne City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tanner McNeil, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. McNeil continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. James Walker was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Cisne has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Wayne City, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-14.
Cisne will be playing in front of their home fans against Fairfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairfield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cisne in Illinois (Fairfield is ranked 228th, while Cisne is ranked 491st). As for Wayne City, they will head out on the road to challenge Webber at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Webber will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
