Baseball Preview: Morse Shipbuilders vs. Leavitt Hornets

The Morse Shipbuilders will head out on the road to challenge the Leavitt Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Things were looking good for Morse after they put the first points on the board last Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 13-4 to Freeport. The defeat continues a trend for Morse in their matchups with Freeport: they've now lost seven in a row.

Morse saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oscar Nelson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jackson Murray, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Meanwhile, Leavitt waltzed into their match on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They had just enough and edged the Panthers out 8-7. That's two games straight that Leavitt has won by just one run.

Morse's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Leavitt, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
