Baseball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Nogales

Nogales extended their winning streak to five on Thursday, bumping them up to 19-6. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Pueblo Warriors. The Apaches might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Diego Peral looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Angel Taddei, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Juan Pablo Tapia was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Nogales hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pueblo struck out eight times.

As for Pueblo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-22. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly ten runs.

On Pueblo's side, Omar Soto made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Amare Martinez, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Coming up, Nogales will square off against Salpointe Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Apaches' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. Pueblo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
