Baseball Recap: Satellite's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Satellite had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They put the hurt on the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders with a sharp 8-2 win. Considering the Scorpions have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Brandon Reiter and Jaidan Batts were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Reiter pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Batts pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Reiter posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. At the plate, Reiter scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Batts got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, MJ Valdes was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Satellite always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.

Satellite pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Lake Highland Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Satellite will head out to take on East River at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Highland Prep, they will venture away from home to challenge Trinity Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
