Baseball Game Preview: Hawley Nuggets vs. Perham Yellowjackets

Hawley hasn't had much luck against Perham recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Nuggets will host the Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Hawley is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Thursday. They blew past Breckenridge 15-2. Winning may never get old, but the Nuggets sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row dating back to last season.

Perham not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024. Everything went their way against Minnehaha Academy as they made off with a 12-1 win.

Joey Ecker looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Perham got a massive performance out of Ty Rooney, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four hits gave Rooney a new career-high. Gavin Griffin was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
