Softball Game Preview: Carondelet Cougars vs. San Ramon Valley Wolves

The Carondelet Cougars will head out to take on the San Ramon Valley Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Carondelet will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Monte Vista, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Carondelet came out on top against Monte Vista by a score of 11-7 on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Cougars have beaten the Mustangs on their field since April 22, 2021.

Kaitlin Clement was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Norie Umene also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, San Ramon Valley put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their undefeated season alive. Everything went their way against Hillsdale as San Ramon Valley made off with a 9-2 win. With that victory, the Wolves brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Lila McLeod spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Sophia Jin was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden West, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Carondelet's record is now 2-3. As for San Ramon Valley, their record now sits at 4-0-1.

Carondelet beat San Ramon Valley 7-4 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carondelet since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
