Basketball Recap: Caesar Berryman and Ty Fritz Secure Win for Valley View

Valley View won the last time they faced Madison and things went their way on Friday too. The Valley View Spartans came out on top against the Madison Mohawks by a score of 52-43. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Mohawks are ranked 703rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Valley View was led to victory by Ty Fritz and Caesar Berryman. Fritz dropped a double-double with 13 points and 15 boards, while Berryman went 6-for-7 en route to 13 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Berryman a new career-high in steals (two). Another player making a difference was Brody Denny, who posted ten points.

Valley View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Valley View's record is now 13-5. As for Madison, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 14 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.

Valley View wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 66-58 defeat against Carlisle on the 8th. As for Madison, they have also already played their next game, a 75-69 win against Cincinnati Christian on the 8th.
