Baseball Game Preview: St. Paul Knights vs. Wachusett Regional Mountaineers

The St. Paul Knights will challenge the Wachusett Regional Mountaineers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, St. Paul didn't have quite enough to beat Hopedale and fell 5-4.

Curtis Patrick made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Ben Cooney was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Wachusett Regional was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of Boston College High. Even if the Mountaineers couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Travis Laidlaw was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ethan Divito, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Wachusett Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for St. Paul, they dropped their record down to 3-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
