Basketball Recap: Caverna Skates Past Fort Campbell with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Caverna over Fort Campbell in every quarter on their way to victory on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Caverna Colonels blew the Fort Campbell Falcons out of the water with an 80-48 final score. With the Colonels ahead 44-16 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Despite the loss, Fort Campbell saw an underclassman step up: freshman Israel Dillard went 8 for 9 on his way to 17 points and six blocks. Tyrek Anthony was another key player, putting up 13 points and eight rebounds.

Caverna has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Fort Campbell, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Caverna wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-55 defeat against Taylor County on the 17th. Fort Campbell has also already played their next match, a 59-43 loss against Montgomery Central on the 16th.
