The Harrold Hornets will square off against the Northside Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Harrold took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Knox City by a score of 13-10. With that win, the Hornets brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.
Mylie Maness made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abrianna Albineda, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Saydee Duncan, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Northside fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Knox City on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Greyhounds by a score of 14-13. That's two games in a row now that the Indians have lost by just one run.
J. Bustamante led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-6 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. K. Gomez was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI.
Northside has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for Harrold, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Harrold has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Northside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
