Basketball Game Preview: Weldon Valley Warriors vs. Campion Academy Cougars

The Weldon Valley Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Campion Academy Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Weldon Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 46-39 victory over North Park on Friday.

It was another big night for Annie Onufrak, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. Ellie Koch was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Weldon Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 13 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Campion Academy waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They snuck past the Archers with a 38-32 win.

Campion Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Weldon Valley, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.

Weldon Valley ended up a good deal behind Campion Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2023, losing 38-23. Can Weldon Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
