Basketball Game Preview: Montbello Warriors vs. Longmont Trojans

The Montbello Warriors and the Longmont Trojans will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Montbello and four for Longmont dating back to last season.

Montbello is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Northglenn on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Montbello took a blow against Northglenn, falling 76-27. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the loss, Montbello had strong showings from Kian Martin, who posted nine points, and Daniel Green, who had seven points.

Meanwhile, Longmont was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Saturday as they fell 56-52 to Golden.

Montbello will need focus on slowing down Jacob Foot, one of several Longmont players who made an impact when they last played. He earned 17 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gavin Northouse, who put up 12 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Longmont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Golden only pulled down five offensive rebounds.

Longmont's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Montbello, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
