Baseball Game Preview: Santa Ynez Pirates vs. Carpinteria Warriors

For the second straight game, Santa Ynez will face off against Carpinteria. The Pirates will be playing at home against the Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Santa Ynez fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Carpinteria on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-1. The Pirates' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Tate Minus spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Elijah Roberts made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Glover, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Carpinteria has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Santa Ynez, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
