Volleyball Recap: Newman Smith Comes Up Short

If Newman Smith was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Turner on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trojans lost 3-0 to the Wakeland Wolverines on Friday. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

While Newman Smith was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Wakeland's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-10, 25-13.

Newman Smith's defeat dropped their record down to 7-22. As for Wakeland, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 22-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Newman Smith is set to challenge their familiar foe The Colony at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Wakeland will face off against rival Highland Park at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
