Baseball Recap: Clearfield Gets the Win

Clearfield's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders 6-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bison also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Christian Welker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kam Kushner, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Matt Irvin, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Clearfield now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Bishop Guilfoyle, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Clearfield didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-5 defeat against Tyrone on the 27th. As for Bishop Guilfoyle, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 7-1 win against Penns Valley Area on the 27th.
