Volleyball Preview: Foran Lions vs. Guilford Grizzlies
Foran has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will venture away from home to square off against the Guilford Grizzlies at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Guilford took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Foran, who comes in off a win.
On Wednesday, Foran got the win against Hamden by a conclusive 3-0.
The final score came out to 25-20, 25-11, 25-22.
Foran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nyah Boromei led the charge by getting six digs and three aces. Boromei is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in the last six games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Gaby Magnuson, who had 14 digs.
Foran was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2023.
Meanwhile, Guilford couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Cheshire by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.
Guilford actually scored more points across those five sets (110-102), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 21-25, 25-23, 15-25, 15-13.
Foran's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Guilford, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
