The Poly Prep Country Day Blue Devils entered their tilt with the Morristown-Beard Crimson with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Poly Prep Country Day came out on top against Morristown-Beard by a score of 16-8 on Saturday. Given Poly Prep Country Day's advantage in MaxPreps's football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 42nd in New York, while Morristown-Beard is ranked 274th in New Jersey), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Poly Prep Country Day's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marco Smith, who rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Smith was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards. Another player making a difference was Trent Winston, who gained 135 total yards and a touchdown.
Poly Prep Country Day's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 4-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.8 points per game. As for Morristown-Beard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games.
