Basketball Game Preview: Canal Winchester Indians vs. Newark Wildcats

Canal Winchester hasn't had much luck against Newark recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Canal Winchester Indians will take on the Newark Wildcats at 7:30 p.m.

Canal Winchester is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since December 17, 2024 on Friday. They lost 74-49 to Pickerington Central. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 411th, while the Tigers are ranked 175th).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Newark faced off against Hilliard Bradley on Saturday. Newark had just enough and edged Hilliard Bradley out 47-44. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Canal Winchester's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Newark, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.

Canal Winchester was dealt a bruising 64-37 loss at the hands of Newark in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Canal Winchester avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
