Softball Recap: Ovid-Elsie Finds Home Field Redemption Against Lakewood

There's no place like home for Ovid-Elsie, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They skirted past the Lakewood Vikings 10-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Marauders considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Ovid-Elsie let Kathryn Thornton and Haley McClung run wild. Thornton went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run, while McClung scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Thornton a new career-high. Isabella Phillips also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

Ovid-Elsie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Ovid-Elsie's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Lakewood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ovid-Elsie will face off against Montrose at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lakewood, they will take on Thornapple Kellogg at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
