Baseball Recap: Sunnyside Comes Up Short

Sunnyside fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Roosevelt on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rough Riders by a score of 7-6. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rough Riders earlier this season, when they won 6-1.

Sunnyside saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Neri Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with two runs. The Wildcats are 3-1 when Lopez posts two or more runs, but 6-13 otherwise. Abraham Worrell was another, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Sunnyside moved to 9-14 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Roosevelt, they moved to 13-10-1 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Sunnyside has already played their next game, a 5-4 loss against Hoover on the 6th. As for Roosevelt, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-3 defeat against Madera South on the 6th.
