Football Game Preview: Thousand Islands Vikings vs. Clinton Comets

Thousand Islands is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Saturday. They will head out on the road to square off against the Clinton Comets at 2:00 p.m. Thousand Islands is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Thousand Islands lost 54-28 to New York Mills last Thursday. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Marauders 12-8 in the first quarter.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Thomas Bernhardt, who threw for 175 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 100 yards. Thousand Islands' leading receiver Jacob Coyne was Bernhardt's top target yet again, picking up 35 receiving yards, while also rushing for 65 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Clinton's offense. They were beaten by West Canada Valley 48-0 last Thursday. The Comets haven't had much luck with the Nighthawks recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Clinton now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Thousand Islands, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
