Softball Recap: Goddard Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Goddard ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past the Salina Central Mustangs 8-7. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 9-7 victory the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Breckyn Baxter made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over eight innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). Baxter was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Baxter wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Alberg, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. Addilyn Nelson was another, going 3-for-4 with one double.

Goddard's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Salina Central, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Mustangs beat Goddard by a score of 15-2 later that day.
