Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Michael Meloy and Akbal Ramos Lead Joliet West to Victory

Joliet West posted their closest victory since April 1st on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Providence Catholic Celtics 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Celtics: they've now won five in a row.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Joliet West got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-14, 23-25, 25-19.

Leading Joliet West to victory were Akbal Ramos and Michael Meloy. Ramos had 14 digs and one assist, while Meloy had 11 digs and ten kills. Those ten kills gave Meloy a new career-high.

Joliet West's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Providence Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Joliet West will take on Plainfield East at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Providence Catholic, they will challenge Homewood-Flossmoor at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
