Softball Recap: Rio Grande City's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to 13

Rio Grande City came tearing into Tuesday's match with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Juarez-Lincoln Huskies. The result was nothing new for the Rattlers, who have now won 15 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Rio Grande City got a big performance out of Anjolina Zurita, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Julexie Garcia, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Rio Grande City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Juarez-Lincoln only posted an OBP of .269.

Rio Grande City's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Juarez-Lincoln, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-8.

Rio Grande City has already played their next game, a 6-0 victory against Nixon on the 11th. As for Juarez-Lincoln, they will head out on the road to take on Mission Veterans Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
