Basketball Game Preview: Greeley West Spartans vs. Fort Collins Lambkins

Greeley West and Fort Collins are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Greeley West Spartans will head out to square off against the Fort Collins Lambkins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greeley West has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 19.

Greeley West is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Loveland on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Greeley West lost 81-56 to Loveland. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while the Red Wolves are ranked 41st).

Meanwhile, Fort Collins was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Windsor 75-45.

Greeley West will have to contain Finn Reiser as he made an impact in Fort Collins' last game. He went 6 for 9 en route to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Spiro Palmer, who posted nine points.

Fort Collins' defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Greeley West, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Greeley West suffered a grim 74-48 defeat to Fort Collins in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Can Greeley West avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
