Softball Recap: Norwalk Finds Home Field Redemption Against Bellflower

There's no place like home for Norwalk, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Bellflower Buccaneers on Thursday as they made off with an 11-5 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lancers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Alyssa Hurst spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nayeli Sanchez was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mariah Favela, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Sanchez wasn't the only one making solid contact: Norwalk kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Norwalk has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-9-1 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 14.7 runs. As for Bellflower, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Norwalk will welcome Dominguez at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 20.67 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bellflower, they will host Warren at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
