Softball Recap: Danville Has No Trouble Against Shikellamy

Danville made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Shikellamy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Ironmen blew past the Braves 12-5 on Tuesday. Considering the Ironmen have won four matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Maclin Hickey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brynn Wilson, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Merrill, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Danville's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Shikellamy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Danville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 16-9 defeat against Williamsport on the 3rd. Shikellamy has also already played their next contest (against Selinsgrove), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
