Basketball Recap: Holbrook's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but Holbrook unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Alchesay Falcons by a score of 54-52. The Roadrunners were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 60-56.

Holbrook's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Tapaha, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Tapaha has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaron Becenti, who went 5 for 6 en route to 11 points along with seven assists and three steals.

Tapaha wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Holbrook was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alchesay only posted seven assists.

Leading Alchesay to victory were Texas James and Micah Yazzie. James went 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points, while Yazzie went 6 for 7 en route to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Adrian Dosela, who posted seven points and three steals.

Holbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Alchesay, their win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-9.

Holbrook didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-39 victory against Show Low on the 5th. Alchesay has also already played their next game, a 53-45 loss against Winslow on the 5th.
