Baseball Game Preview: Webster Tigers vs. Amery Warriors

The Webster Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Amery Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Webster nor Amery posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Webster will head out to face Amery after giving up their first home loss of the season on Tuesday. The Tigers came up short against Grantsburg, falling 7-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered since April 11, 2025.

Altoona hit Amery with a four-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors lost 9-2 to the Railroaders.

Michael Morrissey was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Amery's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Webster, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 5-2.

Webster came out on top in a nail-biter against Amery when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 9-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
