Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Notre Dame Has No Trouble Against Athenian

St. Joseph Notre Dame had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Athenian on Monday. The Pilots blew past the Owls 10-3. The Pilots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Owls, too.

Brandon Ng was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Dominic Dollar was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Isaiah Dumont was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

St. Joseph Notre Dame has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Athenian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-10.

St. Joseph Notre Dame will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Owls: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
