Softball Recap: Millburn Wins Going Away Against East Side

Millburn's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Everything went their way against the East Side Red Raiders as they made off with an 18-2 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Millers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Madeena Cheema was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. That earned run was her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Anya Debur was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Those stolen bases marked the first that she snagged this season. Alexandra Bunch was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Millburn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory got Millburn back to even at 2-2. As for East Side, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Millburn will square off against Verona at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for East Side, they will take on Newark Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
