Baseball Game Preview: J.P. Stevens Hawks vs. Linden Tigers

The J.P. Stevens Hawks will square off against the Linden Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Last Wednesday, J.P. Stevens didn't have quite enough to beat Carteret and fell 5-3.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Linden duked it out with Plainfield on Thursday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 9-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won three in a row.

Jimmy Santa Maria and Armando Agusti made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Santa Maria pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Agusti struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. At bat, Santa Maria scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Agusti scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Jacob Gonzalez was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Eliel Olivo, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

J.P. Stevens' defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Linden, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
