The Dr. Krop Lightning will take on the Nova Titans at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dr. Krop has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Dr. Krop is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Mater Academy Charter on Thursday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (12-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Nova made sure to put some runs up on the board against Somerset Academy on Friday. The Titans came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 11-6. Considering the Titans' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Ayden Paredes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Nova is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise. Paredes was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Nova got a massive performance out of Cole Boisvert, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Boisvert a new career-high. Allan Cruz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Nova was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Nova's record now sits at 12-10. As for Dr. Krop, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dr. Krop has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Nova struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Dr. Krop suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Nova in their previous matchup back in February. Can the Lightning avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
