Softball Recap: Payton College Prep Comes Up Short

After flying high against Latin on Wednesday, Payton College Prep came back down to earth. The Grizzlies came up short against the Fenwick Friars on Friday, falling 11-3. The Grizzlies have struggled against the Friars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Molly Vann was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Saya Tanabe, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Payton College Prep now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Fenwick, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Coming up, Payton College Prep will look to defend their home field on Monday against Northside at 4:30 p.m. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.71 runs per game on average), something the Grizzlies will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Fenwick, they will head out on the road to take on Loyola Academy at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Ramblers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
