Baseball Recap: Schenectady Takes a Loss

Schenectady extended their losing streak to 12 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They lost 7-0 to the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 5-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Schenectady saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oliver Verett, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, they moved to 2-14 with that win, which also ended their 11-game losing streak. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 4, 2024 (when they won 12-4).

On Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake's side, the team relied heavily on Ricky Nicklas, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave Nicklas a new career-high. Jack Sunkes was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Schenectady will venture away from home to square off against Mohonasen at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, they will take on Albany at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
