Preview: Copperas Cove Bulldawgs vs. Weiss Wolves
The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs will head out on the road to take on the Weiss Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Two weeks ago, Copperas Cove came up short against Harker Heights and fell 45-32. While losing is never fun, Copperas Cove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 664th, while Harker Heights is ranked 301st).
Meanwhile, Weiss had to endure a 23-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Temple by a score of 36-28 on Friday. The victory was just what Weiss needed coming off of a 58-29 loss in their prior match.
Serese Williams was the offensive standout of the game as she dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Braelynn Gray, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Copperas Cove has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season. As for Weiss, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-22.
Everything went Copperas Cove's way against Weiss in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as Copperas Cove made off with a 44-22 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Copperas Cove since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
