Recap: Clarke Prep Gators vs. Bessemer Academy Rebels

This season hasn't been kind to the Clarke Prep Gators, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They suffered a tough 51-31 loss at the hands of Bessemer Academy on Friday. Clarke Prep has not had much luck with Bessemer Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Bessemer Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kane Burns, who scored nine points along with four steals. Jeran Jones was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.

Clarke Prep's loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8. As for Bessemer Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clarke Prep will take on Morgan Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Morgan Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Tuesday. Bessemer Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lee-Scott Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 13th. Lee-Scott Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
